Piko, Lace Work and Dupatta and Pagg Edging

Dupatta piko, pagg piko, lace and border application with the thread colour matched to your fabric. Most jobs are done while you wait.

Piko is a fine rolled hem stitched along the raw edge of a dupatta, saree or pagg so the fabric does not fray and the edge falls softly. At Nirmal Boutique in Sri Muktsar Sahib we do dupatta piko, pagg piko, saree piko, lace and border application, with thread matched to your fabric colour. Most piko jobs are finished in about 30 minutes at the counter. Walk in on Tibbi Sahib Road, Bagla Market or call +91 98555 86300.

What Piko Is

The Edge Decides How the Fabric Falls

A dupatta with a raw or badly finished edge starts fraying within a few washes, and it never hangs the way it should. Piko fixes both. The edge is rolled tight and stitched fine, so the fabric keeps its drape and the border stays clean.

It sounds like a small job, and it is quick, but it is the difference between a dupatta that looks finished and one that looks unfinished. The same applies to a pagg, where the edge has to be even along a long length or the fold will sit wrong.

  • Thread colour matched to your fabric, not a close guess
  • Even tension along the full length so the edge does not ripple
  • Chiffon, georgette, cotton, silk and net all handled
  • Piko plus lace in one visit if you want a finished border

What We Do

Every Edge, Finished Properly

01

Dupatta Piko

The most common job we do. A fine rolled hem on all four sides so the dupatta hangs cleanly and stops fraying at the corners.

02

Pagg Piko

Turban edging along the full length, kept even so the fold sits right when it is tied. Voile, malmal and standard pagg cloth handled.

03

Saree Piko and Fall

Rolled hem along the saree edge, plus fall attachment where the pleats need weight and body at the bottom.

04

Lace Application

Gota, zari, net and fancy laces stitched onto dupatta edges, kameez hems and sleeves. Laces available in store.

05

Border Work

Contrast or matching borders applied along hems and dupatta edges, often paired with printed suits for a fuller look.

06

Thread Colour Matching

We hold a wide thread range from our munyari stock, so the stitch line disappears into the fabric instead of standing out.

Questions

Piko and Lace FAQs

What is piko and why does a dupatta need it?

Piko is a fine rolled hem stitched along the raw edge of the fabric. Without it a dupatta frays within a few washes and the edge never falls cleanly. With it the fabric keeps its drape and the border stays neat.

How long does dupatta piko take?

A single dupatta is usually finished in about 30 minutes, so most customers wait at the counter rather than collecting the next day. Bulk work for a wedding is better with a day of notice.

Do you do pagg piko as well?

Yes. Pagg piko is done along the full length with even tension so the fold sits correctly when tied. Voile, malmal and standard turban cloth are all handled.

Can you match the thread to my fabric?

Yes. We hold a wide thread range as part of our tailoring material and munyari stock, so the stitch line blends into the fabric instead of standing out against it.

Do I need to bring my own lace?

You can, but you do not have to. Gota, zari, net and fancy laces are stocked in store, so you can pick one against your dupatta on the spot.

Can piko be done on an old dupatta?

Yes, and it is one of the cheapest ways to make an older set wearable again. If the fabric is worn at the edge we will tell you honestly whether it will hold before starting. Edge repair often pairs with alteration work.
